What is Fair Housing?
The Fair Housing Act protects people from discrimination when they are refused to rent or sell a home, setting different terms or conditions based on protected characteristics, discriminatory advertising, and harassment are all considered violations. Additional protections apply to federally-assisted housing.
The federal fair-housing law prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, national origin, sex, religion, familial status, and disability.
